LONG DAY’S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT
I chose to design A Long Day’s Journey Into Night for my graduate thesis, because of the beauty of O’Neill’s prose and because I have a personal connection to the story of the Tyrone family. In my opinion, rarely have drugs, alcohol, and addiction been as sensitively framed as they are in O’Neill’s text.
My intent with this design is to make Mary the center of the story and I want the Tyrone’s house to feel like a prison for her. I drew the house at the end of a lonely road, walled in by the sea.
